Professional Development Week

May 13 – 17, 2013

 Training sessions are open to anyone (faculty or staff) who is interested in attending!

Quality Matters support one-on-one appointments are available on Monday, May 13, and during the summer.  Call Debbi (486-1202) to schedule!

Workshops require at least 3 people to register by the day before the event.  All sessions have achieved minimum enrollment, so all sessions will be held!  There is still lots of room, so please join us.  Thank you all!

Native Student Mentorship and Advising

Our Native students experience some unique tensions and responsibilities that affect their academic performance and path to completion. Learn about how to better mentor and advise Native students to increase retention and success!

What eLearning is best for my course?

Comparison and considerations of the various types of eLearning in delivery, mode, and pedagogy.  If you’re thinking about teaching online and need help with the options or if things aren’t working as well as you’d like, this is a good place to start!

Come practice the basics, learn more advanced features, and share your VT experiences and projects.

Google Apps—SITES!

Sites are webpages that can hold a variety of information.  Create sites about yourself, your work, and your courses.  Use a site as the alternative backup for Blackboard.  Come play with the options.

Web Conferencing Options!

Learn about and practice with Google Hangouts, Elluminate Live, Blackboard Collaborate, and maybe a few others.  Web conferencing is useful for teaching, meetings, and recording videos.

Blackboard—Beyond the Basics!

Want to know more about features in Blackboard or how to get around problem spots?  Come check out features like tests, wikis, blogs, groups, and file management.
