Making Connections with Students and Faculty

The Learning Center at Kodiak College strives to increase the academic success of all students at all levels of preparedness, enhance curricula and teaching strategies of the faculty, and expand educational opportunities for community members.

The Learning Center tutors work to strengthen reading, writing, math, science and study skills for college success by offering tutoring services, instructional software, access to campus technology and the Internet.

Accuplacer Testing

Kodiak College uses Accuplacer testing to assess student placement and eligibility.

PRACTICE IMPROVES PERFORMANCE!

BEFORE taking the general Accuplacer Placement Tests for Reading, Writing, and Math, consider doing some review work or taking a practice test.  Placement Testing now costs $10 per visit; practice work is FREE!

General English and Math review work and practice tests can help improve your test results and your course placement level.  Drop in at The Learning Center where a tutor will be available to assist you!

Tutoring Schedule

A full tutoring schedule (showing all open times and tutors) is available at the The Learning Center, and is available as a .pdf file here.

Tutors are available to assist students with English writing, reading, science, and math skills and assignments. They can also help students identify learning styles, develop study strategies, manage timelines and organize projects.

Tutors can help students assess their test-taking strengths and weaknesses, provide information and strategies for overcoming test anxiety, and help students understand the rules and procedures for standardized tests.  We’re here to help you succeed.
